Angelo Shin, 26, was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in state prison Tuesday for the death of Robert Chae.
Shin had pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree murder, robbery and making false reports to law enforcement.
Chae and his wife were attacked in the driveway of their home as they were leaving for work in January of 2009.
A number of items were stolen, including about $20,000 in cash.
Shin did not enter the Chae home during the robbery, police said, but he was charged for helping plan the home invasion.
