Technology Park opens on old Navy Yard

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - October 20, 2010

With Mayor Nutter's snip of the ribbon, the Philadelphia Technology Park is now open to serve companies in the city, South Jersey, Wilmington and Mid-Atlantic region that are looking for a facility to store their computer servers and other IT infrastructure.

Philadelphia Technology Park is a $25-million, 25,000-plus square-foot enterprise data center which will allow organizations to bring in their own IT equipment and run it in a raised floor, temperature-controlled, and highly-secured environment.

With a 1.6 megawatt generator already on site, and another on the way, companies can store their data here without any fear of it being lost in any sort of catastrophe.

The idea was to replicate in Philadelphia what has already been successfully completed in Baltimore.

The capability of this facility and its in-house expertise eliminates the need for organizations to build and operate their own costly data centers.
