Ex-La Salle official charged with $5M fraud

PHILADELPHIA - October 26, 2010

Prosecutors on Tuesday charged 58-year-old Stephen Greb with running what they said was a 20-year scam. Greb had been the school's director of auxiliary services until officials at La Salle fired him in June after saying they discovered the scheme.

Authorities say Greb set up a fake food company through which he authorized payments from the school. Greb's job included oversight of food services and on-campus catering.

The Blue Bell man turned himself in Tuesday morning to face charges including theft, forgery and tampering. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.

La Salle is a private Roman Catholic university with about 7,000 students.
