Delco town establishes Halloween curfew

ASTON, Pa. - October 27, 2010

From Thursday night through Sunday night, Aston will set a curfew of 9:00 p.m. until sunrise for people under 18.

Police say, over the years, temporary curfews have gone a long way towards reducing nuisance mischief, like egg throwing and toilet papering.

As in years past, police mean business.

"We do have a problem with kids, and they end up staying with us at the police station until their parents can intervene," said Sgt. Jeff Brown. He added that notices will be posted around town and at the schools so no one is caught by surprise.

Wayne Theobald is happy to see the curfew. He said vandalism has curbed his ability to decorate his home for the holiday.

"Stuff would get slashed, stuff would go missing all the time. It gets too expensive to keep up with everything," Theobald said.

Aston isn't alone in imposing a curfew. A number of other communities in our area will be setting their own for the holiday weekend.
