Winslow Township warned residents on Friday that it found high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water supply.
That notice was lifted late Monday afternoon.
In a notice posted on the town's website, officials said that suggests the presence of human or animal waste.
Boiling kills bacteria that can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea or headaches.
There's no word on the source of the bacteria.
Officials isolated the contaminated water wells, which serve about 75 percent of Winslow's 40,000 residents. Chlorine was being used to disinfect.
Large pots of water were on the stove at Villa Deli on Monday, not only cooking but sanitizing the water as well.
"We're taking all precautions to serve our customers the best that we can," said Tina Bliglia of Villa Deli.
The local Wawa brought in an 8,000 gallon water tanker to keep operations going.
Meanwhile, the dental offices of Dr. Melvin Pierson were quiet on Monday.
"We have to do a several step process to get the instruments clean. A couple steps involved include water, the last step includes sterilization and we're skeptical about that," said Dr. Pierson.
Winslow's schools were closed on Monday. They will be closed on Tuesday as well - not because of the water, but because of Election Day.
