Police tell Action News that the woman was shot near the corner of North 7th Street and Clearfield Street around 12:30 a.m.
An officer in the area heard gunshots and reported to the intersection of 7th and Clearfield where police found the female laying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Police believe the victim was initially robbed earlier and that officers were responding to the robbery call when they heard the gunshots.
The victim was taken by police to Temple University Hospital.
The suspect is a 17-year-old male last seen wearing dark clothing.
