Authorities arrested Michael Collier, 45, of Frederica.
Police say Collier punched in the face a 51-year-old man from Felton, Delaware, outside the Bayview Inn on Hubbard Avenue on Bowers Beach at about 11:30 Sunday night. The victim fell backwards and struck his head on the pavement, causing a severe injury.
The victim was flown to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
Collier fled the scene of the incident, but police arrested him at his home shortly after 4 a.m. Monday. He faces assault and was locked up awaiting bail.
