The fire was reported around 2:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Overhill Road.
The resident made it to the roof of the house and had to be rescued by firefighters.
He was taken to Delaware Memorial Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
So far, there is no word on what sparked the fire.
