Police tell Action News that the driver, a man in his 30's, was traveling northbound in the center lanes of the Roosevelt Boulevard near Hartel Street around 3:30 a.m. when he lost control and ran off the road, slamming into a tree.
The impact of the crash trapped the driver in the vehicle forcing firefighters to free the man using the Jaws of Life.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
So far, no word yet on the man's identity.
