Police in Del. Co. make historic drug bust

DARBY TOWNSHIP, Pa. - November 8, 2010

Police arrested Anthony Thomas and accused him of being the kingpin who is believed to have masterminded a half-million dollar cocaine delivery service that was centered in the west and southwest sections of Philadelphia.

Investigators followed him last Thursday and officers phoned in an order for cocaine to be delivered to the 3500 block of South 61st Street.

Officers observed Thomas selling drugs at that location and arrested Thomas.

After getting a warrant for Thomas' car and a house on Barker in Philadelphia, where police arrested 2 more men, Thomas Mapp and Ardell Johnson. They also confiscated 3264 grams of powder cocaine with a street value of $326,400, 107 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $10,700, plus $59,921 cash. They also found weapons.

When police searched the car, they found a hidden compartment in the front passenger seat containing 433.5 grams of cocaine with a street value of $43,350 and 72 grams of crack with a street value of $7,200, plus $1,000 cash and a loaded handgun.
