OJ Simpson's legal team gets more time for appeal

LAS VEGAS (AP) -November 9, 2010

The court refused last month to overturn Simpson's 2008 conviction stemming from a gunpoint heist in a Las Vegas hotel room. Justices rejected a claim that prospective jurors were dismissed because they were black.

The deadline to ask for a new hearing was Monday, but attorneys Malcom LaVergne and Yale Galanter asked for seven more days to seek a rehearing.

The court gave them until Nov. 16.

Simpson is serving nine to 33 years at a state prison in Lovelock, 90 miles northeast of Reno. His legal team says the remote location makes communicating with their client difficult.
