Man claiming to have bombs on Bay Bridge arrested

SAN FRANCISCO, California - November 11, 2010

The man was been taken into custody just before 11:30 a.m. Eastern time.

Earlier, a local radio station had received a call from a man who claimed he was stopped on the bridge with his daughter and had explosives and a gun. A female got out of the car and told police there are two to five bombs in the vehicle.

Police negotiated with the man. The San Francisco bomb squad, SWAT team and the CHP are on the scene.

All westbound traffic was being stopped at the toll plaza and people are doing u-turns to get off the upper deck of the bridge.
