This year's vaccine offers protection against 3 strains of the flu, including the H1N1 flu, which came to be known last year as the swine flu.

There have been confirmed cases of influenza in Pennsylvania, including an outbreak in September in a Southeastern Pennsylvania nursing home.

Between August 25 and September 10, 33 nursing home residents a staffers developed influenza A.

14 cases were reported over the summer, 12 of them from influenza A, and 2 due to the pandemic H1N1 virus.
