2 boaters rescued in southern NJ

BARNEGAT LIGHT, N.J. - November 14, 2010

Coast Guard officials say the boat was about a half-mile away from the Barnegat Light inlet when it capsized around 10 a.m., sending both men into the water. Officials would not identify the pair, but said each man was wearing a life jacket.

Another boater who happened to be in the area quickly pulled one man out of the water and notified Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light, which sent out a 47-foot motorized lifeboat. Meanwhile, another passing boater got the other man to safety.

The Coast Guard lifeboat crew then escorted the two Samaritan vessels back to the station, where the two men were treated for exposure and other minor issues.
