Father charged with 4-week-old's murder

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. - November 14, 2010

Police say on November 11th, 25-year-old Erik Griffin placed a pillow over the face of his 4-week-old son, Nyir, to stop him from crying.

Griffin removed the pillow once the baby stopped crying.

Police say Griffin noticed his son was no longer breathing and left the home.

Nyir was later discovered by his maternal grandmother, who found the baby unresponsive and attempted to revive him.

The baby was taken to Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro, N.J., where he was pronounced dead.

Grffin is in the Burlington County Jail on $750,000 bail.

He will have a first appearance in Burlington County Superior Court on Monday.
