Speedsters get ticketed on the way to the track

LIBERTY, N.Y. (AP) - November 15, 2010

New York state troopers pulled over more than 100 high-performance cars yesterday morning.

The New York state police stopped Porches, Corvettes, Vipers and BMWs as they sped toward a private track in Monticello.

Troopers say they were alerted by 911 calls that cars were racing by at 100 miles per hour.

Officers issued more than 30 tickets.

The drivers were part of Turkey Run 2010, a charity event sponsored by Exotics Rally Inc.

The group's website says more than 250 people paid $100 each to participate.
