It happened shortly after 4:00 p.m. as the woman and a number of school aged children were taking a nature walk in Masons Mill Park located off Byberry Road and Masons Mill Road.
Police say they theorize the branch blew off striking the makeshift hut.
The woman was rushed by medics to Abington Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A few of the children suffered bumps and scrapes and did not require hospitalization.
