3 fires in Pa. leave 2 dead, 9 buildings gutted

WEST PENN TWP., Pa. - November 18, 2010

The fires happened in Schuylkill County between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. All are under investigation to determine their causes.

The first fire broke out around 11 p.m. Wednesday at a Schuylkill Haven warehouse and raged out of control for several hours.

Around 3 a.m. Thursday, a blaze consumed a large building at Blue Mountain Christian Retreat in West Penn Township.

Then at around 5:30 a.m., a fire in New Philadelphia swept through seven row homes. The county coroner identified the victims as 56-year-old Maureen Wallace and her daughter, 34-year-old Marietta Wallace.
