AMC Entertainment Inc. has agreed that in nearly 250 stadium-style theaters, and in any new ones it builds, wheelchair seating will be moved back from the front row and spaces for wheelchair users and their companions will be provided in the stadium section near the middle of the theater.
The company also agrees to make appropriate changes to theaters the company buys in the next five years.
The Justice Department sued AMC, which has about 5,300 screens, in 1999.
The agreement was filed Thursday in federal court in Los Angeles.
