Police: Man shot after pointing gun at officers

STRAWBERRY MANSION - November 23, 2010

The incident happened at 25th and Norris streets shortly after 8:00 p.m.

Police say two Southwest Philadelphia detectives were in the area and heard a series of gunshots.

The officers exited their car and observed a man, believed to be in his late teens, running towards them with a gun by his side.

The man pointed the gun at officers and officers fired upon him, striking him in the right hip area.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

There is no word yet on charges.

The officers were not injured.
