Los Angeles County deputies report finding 1,700 pot plants growing in a home.
The grow house was discovered after a compost pile in the living room caught fire.
Detective David Mertens tells the Pasadena Star-News that a man was seen running from the home.
But no arrests have been made.
Mertens says often gangs rent out houses to use as indoor pot farms.
