Phila. cop arrested for domestic assault

A Philadelphia police officer has been arrested after a domestic assault over the weekend.

Police officials announced the arrest of 30-year-old Officer Deric Lewis on Monday.

According to investigators, Lewis was involved in a 'domestic altercation' on Saturday involving his girlfriend.

Further details of the incident were not immediately available.

Lewis is charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Lewis for 30 days with intent to dismiss.

Lewis is a four year veteran of the force and was assigned to the 22nd District.
