Woman convicted of assault with stiletto heel

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - December 10, 2010

The Buffalo News reports that an Erie County Court jury found Erica Moreland guilty Thursday of felony assault for using her 4-inch heel to kick 51-year-old Joan Livingston in the face while they fought in a man's car at about 4:30 a.m. Feb. 20.

The newspaper reports that surgeons repaired Livingston's orbital bone and facial muscles and removed bits of the heel that were embedded in her face. She testified that she has double vision in her left eye.

Moreland testified that she raised her shoe in self-defense after Livingston attacked her.

Moreland's possible sentence ranges from probation to seven years in state prison. Sentencing was set for Feb. 25.
