St. Louis-based Express Scripts Inc. said earlier this month that it planned to close both Bensalem plant. Officials said labor costs were higher there than at a dozen other company facilities.
Members of the Service Employees International Union Local 1199P on Friday approved the deal that will keep the Street Road plant open, although union officials say 100 or more workers there will be laid off next
year. They also approved severance packages for workers at the Marshall Lane plant that will close Thursday, which employs 425 people, including 365 union members.
Chief union negotiator Stephanie Haynes says the deal "feels like a hard-earned coin."
