Homeowner fires shot at burglars' truck

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - December 10, 2010

It happened Friday at 10:35 a.m. at a home on Chapman Road in Newark. Police said the son of the homeowner saw two men taking a generator and other items from the yard of the home and putting them in the bed of a pickup truck.

The son called police and his father. The father went to the pickup truck and fired at it.

Police arrived and took two men into custody. Forty-one-year-old William Rafter of Clayton and 30-year-old Mark Sturgill of Bridgeton, N.J. have been charged with theft and conspiracy.

The homeowner was not charged.
