30 displaced by Pottstown apartment fire

POTTSTOWN, Pa. - December 12, 2010

Fire investigators returned to the scene this morning trying to learn the cause of this fire. They spent most of the morning sifting through the rubble on the third floor of the building where the fire broke out, causing major damage.

The Red Cross says they have assisted 12 families consisting of 30 people. Officials say is still possible other families will need their assistance as not everyone living at the complex has sought their aid.

Fire officials say the fire broke out in the top floor of the B Building of the Wexford Apartments. Within minutes, they say it went to three-alarms.

By the time the fire was put out, twelve units were destroyed.

Luckily, no one was injured in the fire.

The Red Cross reminds residents wishing to help disaster victims in their area, like those helped by last night's Pottstown fire can do so by going to redcrossphilly.org or by calling 215-299-4000.
