NJSPCA removes 50 dogs from hoarder's home

CAPE MAY COURTHOUSE, N.J. - December 18, 2010

The NJSPCA arrived to the home on 737 Goshen Road in Cape May Courthouse just after 11:00 a.m.

There, they found at least 50 dogs roaming in and out of the property.

Some were kept in outdoor cages.

None had food or water.

Rescuers also found six dogs buried in the back in a shallow grave.

Police say the homeowner, who they say is a hoarder, arrived home during the raid and was arrested on scene when she refused to sign legal papers surrendering the dogs.

She has been identified as Dawn Scheld.

Scheld is being charged with causing death to animals and is being held on $50,000 bail.
