Snow storm heading south, then north

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - December 24, 2010

The white stuff is being delivered by a storm that brought at least 7 inches of snow in parts of Iowa early Friday. It's expected to dip south into Tennessee and Georgia on Saturday, then move north Sunday.

Winter weather advisories have been posted from Kansas east to Kentucky and from Minnesota south to Arkansas.

There hasn't been a white Christmas in Atlanta and Memphis in 17 years. Atlanta-based Delta says it may be forced to cancel hundreds of flights Saturday.

The storm is expected to then head north, bringing snow Sunday to parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Forecasters say snow accumulations will depend just how far the low pressure system remains off coast.
