Philly-bound plane bumps another in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - December 28, 2010

Lambert director Rhonda Hamm-Niebrugge says the minor collision happened Tuesday morning. No one was hurt and the planes returned to the gate for inspection.

US Airways says the wingtip of one of its Airbus 319 planes bound for Charlotte, N.C., contacted the wingtip of an Embraer 175 operated by Republic Airways, a regional carrier for US Airways. The Embraer was about to fly to Philadelphia with 78 people on board. The Airbus had 113 people on board.

Hamm-Niebrugge says damage appeared to be minimal. Both flights were canceled, and US Airways spokeswoman Valerie Wunder says the airline is working to make new arrangements for passengers.
