Fire displaces 12 in Plainsboro

PLAINSBORO, N.J. - December 29, 2010

Police received a 911 call from the resident of 1603 Ravens Crest Drive at approximately 5:14 p.m. reporting a fire in her first floor condominium unit.

First arriving police officers observed visible fire rolling out the front door of the first floor residence and began evacuating adjacent units.

The Plainsboro Township Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene shortly thereafter and extinguishing the fire.

Officials say the fire had entered the attic area of the building and spread to several apartments.

There were no serious injuries reported.

One Plainsboro firefighter suffered a minor eye injury and one West Windsor firefighter suffered a shoulder injury.

Both were transported to the University Medical Center at Princeton.

The building was heavily damaged by the fire and the residents of 12 apartments were displaced.

Ravens Crest management representatives were assisted by the Central New Jersey Red Cross office in finding temporary shelter and supplies for those displaced by the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
