A Pennsylvania State Police trooper from Philadelphia has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from drivers during traffic stops.

Bret Gonzalez, 28, has been arrested on charges of Theft and Drug Paraphernalia Possession.

A state police spokesperson said the department received complaints that a trooper was improperly seizing money from occupants during the course of traffic stops.

Investigators say they used surveillance and undercover officers in their investigation, resulting in Gonzalez's arrest.

He was released after posting bail, pending a preliminary hearing, and was suspended without pay.

Gonzalez is a five year veteran of the state police, having been assigned to the Patrol Unit at Troop K, Philadelphia.
