Del. killer Darrel Page loses latest appeal

A Superior Court judge has denied the latest appeal from a man serving life in prison for a 1999 double murder in Wilmington.

Darrel Page and co-defendant Michael Jones, who is also serving a life sentence, were convicted of killing 30-year-old Cedric Reinford and 24-year-old Maneeka Plant, granddaughter of the late state Rep. Hazel Plant.

Page, who has lost two previous appeals, claimed in a court filing earlier this month that his attorney failed to file a post-trial motion asserting that two witnesses against him, including his former girlfriend, made false statements.

But Judge Peggy Ableman ruled this week that Page has not shown the statements and testimony he is challenging would have affected the outcome of his trial or entitled him to a new trial.
