The motorcyclist who was killed in a weekend crash on Route 202 in Chester County has been identified.

Police say 45-year-old James Eugene Smith, Jr., of Glencrest Road in Coatesville, Pa. died in the crash.

It happened between Morstein and Boot roads in East Goshen Township.

Smith lost control bike and entered into the center grass median, police said, before he and the motorcycle struck the center guide cable and posts between the northbound and southbound lanes.

Investigators say Smith was wearing a full face motorcycle helmet when he collided with the cable guide wires.

The victim was riding with five other motorcycle riders when the accident occurred.

Police believe that speed was a factor in this accident.

Police are requesting that witnesses call the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department at 610-692-5100.
