Fire breaks out inside ship at Navy yard

A ship docked at the Navy yard in South Philadelphia caught on fire Thursday morning.

The fire was reported around 10:00 a.m. and was placed under control within minutes.

The Coast Guard tells Action News that the fire started in the engine room of the Shreveport, which was decommissioned in 2007.

No injuries have been reported. There is no word yet on what touched off the fire.

The Coast Guard has sent assistance to the scene and a pollution team is on standby.
