Police say a teenager was raped inside a Philadelphia taxi late Tuesday night and the driver, who was taken into custody, has been let go.

Detectives from the Special Victims Unit tell Action News that a 14-year-old girl called for a taxi to pick her up in the 3600 block of Sydenham Street around 11:30 p.m.

Police say the teen told the driver to take her to the 2100 block of North Percy Street.

Instead, investigators say, the driver took the girl to Castor and Cottman where he got into the back seat and raped her.

The driver then allegedly took the girl to her destination on Percy Street and dropped her off.

The teen called police who say they were able to track the taxi down and take the driver into custody.

However, Action News has learned, the DA's office refused to press charges until more interviews are done and there is more evidence.
