Multi-alarm trash fire produces heavy smoke

Firefighters try to quell a multi-alarm trash fire in Bridesburg.

Philadelphia fire crews battled a three-alarm trash fire in Bridesburg.

Crews were called to the 3100 block of Orthodox Street near the Betsy Ross Bridge.

Chopper 6 showed thick black smoke billowing into the air.

A second alarm was sounded as of 4:04pm, and a third alarm 17 minutes later.

The fire was brought under control at 5:10 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.

There is no word yet on what sparked the blaze.
