Philadelphia schools close early due to heat

Philadelphia public and Catholic schools sent students home early on Wednesday because of the extreme heat.

The schools closed at 1:30 p.m. with routine transportation home.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia also ended classes early and sent students home at 1:30 as well.

The move is in response to the excessive heat warning, which remains in effect through this evening.
