Police cruiser involved in crash on way to burglary call

A police officer on the way to a burglary call collided with a vehicle in Wilmington.

At 1:48 p.m., Wilmington police units were called to the 3300 block of Washington Street for the report of a burglary in progress.

A 10-year veteran of the police force activated the emergency lights on the police cruiser to respond to the scene.

On the way, the police cruiser collided with a gray Hyundai at the intersection of 31st and Washington streets.

Both the 47-year-old female driver of the Hyundai and the police officer were taken to Wilmington Hospital with minor injuries.

Wilmington police are investigating the accident and are asking anyone with information to contact 302-654-5151.

The details concerning the burglary have not been released.
