Dozens of sick, dead animals found in Philly home

Authorities in Philadelphia have discovered another case of animal hoarding.

Police and animal welfare officials said they rescued 29 live cats and a dog in emaciated condition from a southwest Philadelphia home on Thursday and found 17 dead animals buried in the front yard.

Investigators said the home is occupied by three women whose names have not been released. Officers from the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals say the women will face multiple animal cruelty counts.

Officials were unsure whether the sickly animals will be adoptable. They will be evaluated by a veterinarian.

This raid comes just two days after another hoarding case in the Tacony section where SPCA officers removed over 40 cats from a home.
