Muscle Maker Grill, a healthy choice

CHERRY HILL, N.J. July 28, 2011

It's the first local store in a nationwide chain that features low-fat, low-sodium, low-carb food in popular dishes like Mexican, Italian and Asian.

All recipes are built on choices that maximize flavor while cutting down on the things your doctor recommends avoiding.

Hamburgers are made from low-fat beef. Meatballs are made with ground turkey. The standard pasta is whole wheat, although regular is available. Salad dressings are low- or no-fat, and so is the frozen yogurt and the cheesecake.

Nothing is fried. More likely, your chosen protein will be marinated for extra flavor then either grilled or sautéed. Chicken is the most common entrée but you're welcome to substitute beef, tilapia or shrimp in most cases.

The Cherry Hill store is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00am to 9:00pm, 11:00 to 6:00 on Sundays.

There are no specific meals just for kids, but younger diners enjoy the sautéed chicken nuggets and the pasta dishes. Right now, there are no breakfast or brunch dishes but the national management is studying how to make those fit the healthy fast dining concept.

The Cherry Hill store's phone number is 856-663-4000.

There are other locations in Toms River Brick Township and Manahawkin in Ocean County, New Jersey, and in Turnersville and Woodbury Heights in Gloucester County. Pennsylvania and Delaware locations have yet to be announced.
