Under the settlement, the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales have agreed to pay $24.8 million to 39 plaintiffs who claimed they were abused by Oblate priests.
The settlement was announced Thursday, one week after a federal bankruptcy judge in Wilmington approved a $77 million settlement between the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington and some 150 victims of priest sex abuse.
Earlier this year, the Delaware Supreme Court denied an appeal by the Oblates challenging a 2007 law that allows alleged victims of child sexual abuse to file lawsuits even though the normal time for doing so had expired.
