Phila. police seek suspect in rape attempt

PHILADELPHIA - August 5, 2011

The incident happened on July 23rd. Police say the victim was walking in the area of 48th and Chestnut when she was approached by an unknown man on a black bicycle.

The man started talking to the woman and said his name was Maurice.

The suspect then followed the woman to her apartment and pushed his way inside where he tried to rape the woman at knifepoint.

The victim screamed and the man fled, but not before breaking her phone.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 20 years old standing 5'5" to 5'8" tall. He has a dark complexion and a medium build with light facial hair. He was wearing and orange t-shirt and gray shorts.
