Mayor Nutter hits the streets against flash mob violence

PHILADELPHIA - August 6, 2011

They gathered at the corner of 15th and Chestnut.

Mayor Nutter imposed a city wide curfew this weekend to stem the tide of violence brought on by groups of young people wreaking havoc on city streets.

"All we want is a safe city, an enjoyable city" said Mayor Michael Nutter. "And that's what we're going to have tonight, that's what we are going to have tomorrow, that's what we're going to have all through the rest of the summer and into the fall."

City and community officials and the police department say they want everyone to know they're taking this problem very seriously.
