Suspects in local murder arrested in Indiana

OXFORD, Pa. (AP) - August 11, 2011

Chandler Clark, 20, of Titusville and Melanie Ray, 25, of Franklin are charged with murder, criminal homicide, conspiracy, manslaughter, assault, vehicle theft and weapons counts.

The Daily Local News says the charges were filed Wednesday in Oxford in the death of Andre Dupuis, 32, of Aston, whose body was found Sunday partially down an embankment in West Nottingham Township in Chester County. An autopsy concluded that he died of two gunshot wounds.

The victim's truck was spotted Monday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Indianapolis, and the suspects were found in one of the apartments and arrested on unrelated charges, police said. A handgun believed to be the murder weapon was recovered, they said.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that authorities allege in a criminal complaint that the victim was killed so that the defendants could steal his truck and flee to Arizona to avoid pending charges. Authorities allege that the two had recently met Dupuis and targeted him "because he was not from the immediate area, he was not married, and he did not have children," so he would not be reported missing immediately.

The defendants were being held Wednesday in Indianapolis; listed numbers for the defendants could not be found Wednesday and it was unclear whether they had attorneys.
