2nd Philly curfew crackdown night nets 12 teens

PHILADELPHIA - August 14, 2011

Police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said Sunday that 12 curfew violations were processed Saturday night in Center City.

Mayor Michael Nutter last week announced a 9 p.m. curfew for those under 18 on Fridays and Saturdays in Center City and in nearby University City, home to the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University.

A first arrest could mean a fine of $100 to $300, and parents could be fined up to $500 for successive violations. In other parts of the city, the curfew remains 10 p.m. for those under 13 and midnight for those under 18.
