Three siblings accused in crime spree due in court

WALSENBURG, Colo. (AP) - August 22, 2011

A court hearing is expected Monday in Walsenburg, where prosecutors are expected to formally charge 29-year-old Lee Grace Dougherty, 26-year-old Dylan Dougherty Stanley and 21-year-old Ryan Edward Dougherty.

Each defendant is being held on a bond of $1.25 million.

Prosecutors have declined to discuss evidence involving any Colorado charges, citing a limited gag order issued by a judge at the request of lawyers for two of the siblings.

Authorities previously said the trio robbed a bank in Georgia and shot at police officers in Florida and Colorado. They're also suspects in two car thefts in Utah.

The cross-country manhunt for the Doughertys ended in Huerfano on Aug. 10 after a high-speed chase on Interstate 25 that began when the trio was spotted near Colorado City, about 140 miles south of Denver.

The Doughertys are suspected of shooting at pursuing officers before they ran over spike strips placed by authorities and blew a tire. No officers were hit. Lee Grace Dougherty was shot in the leg after she got out of the car that crashed into a guardrail and allegedly aimed a gun at an officer.

"I deserved to get shot," she told authorities, according to an arrest affidavit.

At a court appearance in Pueblo last week, Dylan Dougherty Stanley had his right forearm in a cast.

Mike Emmons, an attorney for Ryan Dougherty, said his client had a large lump on his head and possibly a concussion. It was unclear when the injuries might have occurred.
