It happened around 8:00 Saturday evening on the 7600 block of Algon Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia.
Police say the driver was travelling at a high speed, when the accident occurred.
Rescue crews worked for an hour to free the driver. He was later pronounced dead at Aria-Torresdale Hospital.
A 47-year-old woman also inside the car was freed. She was taken to Aria-Torresdale Hospital, where she is in guarded condition.
The accident remains under investigation.
