Manayunk businesses clean up from Irene

MANAYUNK - August 29, 2011

Hurricane Irene turned several Main Street businesses into lake front properties and business owners were up bright and early to start the clean up process.

"It's pretty devastating. I feel bad for all these businesses because they get hit all the time," said a local resident.

Max Tucker, one of the owners of Mad River Bar and Grill, is thankful that Hurricane Irene is behind us.

"We're actually feeling a lot better today than we did yesterday. When we got here most of the water was amazingly gone. Yesterday was pretty upsetting. Water was all over the place, all over the parking lot. Now we're feeling confident that we'll be open tomorrow," said Tucker.

Many business owners say that Hurricane Irene wasn't as bad as storms from the past and that flooding is just a part of the business of Main Street.
