Police say a pursuit of a suspect in Pennsylvania ended with the man shot in the neck after he attempted to run down officers with a car.

Investigators say 24-year-old Michael Roberts of Reinholds, Lancaster County was taken into custody early Wednesday morning in Alsace Township, Berks County near Reading.

State police say Roberts struck two Reading police officers after turning around on a dead-end lane following his flight from a traffic stop. Officers opened fire, striking Roberts in the neck and causing him to crash.

Roberts underwent surgery following the shooting. His condition was not immediately available. The two officers who were struck were treated at a hospital and released.

State police are handling the investigation.
