2 restaurants at AC's Pier Shops close abruptly

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - September 6, 2011

Employees say that they were notified Monday morning that both were closing permanently.

Joe Macaluso, a server at Trinity Irish Pub, tells The Press of Atlantic City that the restaurants employed about 50 people. The Boston-based owners of the restaurants couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

The two were among about 75 stores and restaurants at the Pier Shops at Caesars. The complex opened about five years ago but underwent foreclosure proceedings last year after business slowed.

Bank of America received approval to foreclose on the property in April, and the mall's former owner has been operating it until a foreclosure auction takes place.
